Frequently Asked Questions

What materials of chemical tanks can I monitor?

WellAware can be installed on many different types of chemical tanks. We’ve been installed on plastic, stainless steel, fiberglass, and aluminum tanks.

What shapes of chemical tanks can I monitor?

WellAware can be installed on a variety of tank shapes, including vertical cylinders, horizontal cylinders, boxes, and totes.

Do I need my own tank level sensor?

No. All of our chemical automation products including high-quality German-engineered hydrostatic level sensors.

How do I install a WellAware tank level sensor?

All WellAware tank monitors include a quick-mount kit. Installing WellAware is as simple as using an existing opening on the top of the tank (or creating a new opening) and using the quick mount kit to install the sensor and mount the WellAware Connect™ device. No additional hardware is needed. Install typically takes 5-15 minutes with existing openings.

Will WellAware work with especially caustic or destructive liquids?

WellAware has been tested on a wide variety of corrosive and caustic materials, including specialty chemicals, fuels, and acids. Wetted materials include Kynar and 316L stainless steel, which are highly resistant to even very destructive media. If you are concerned about your particular liquid, please contact us with an MSDS sheet for your chemical, and we will assess if our sensors are compatible.

What happens if my tank level monitor breaks?

WellAware guarantees data delivery under a service level agreement with a limited lifetime warranty on all WellAware Connect™ and WellAware Sense™ devices. If your WellAware devices breaks or stops functioning under normal use, we will replace it free of charge. All tank level sensors carry a standard manufacturer’s warranty and will be replaced under that warranty.

How do I calibrate the tank level sensor?

Calibration is super-easy! Just use the WellAware Field App on your phone to connect to your WellAware Connect™ or WellAware Sense™ device. The initial calibration process is just 3 simple steps, and any subsequent calibration requires just one simple step. We do all the math behind the scenes to provide accurate tank volume readings.

How accurate is the WellAware tank level sensor?

The accuracy of WellAware tank level sensors depends on the application and choice of sensors. Our hydrostatic level sensors, for example, have a factory-calibrated accuracy of 0.25% of full scale. Actual precision will depend on certain environmental factors such as tank size, tank material, tank configuration, fluid properties, and the age of the tank.
